The current legislation of Ukraine provides for the payment of a one-time cash benefit to servicemen who have been diagnosed with a disability or loss of working capacity as a result of an illness related to the performance of their military service duties. In particular, Article 16 of the Law of Ukraine "On Social and Legal Protection of Servicemen and Members of Their Families" stipulates that one-time cash assistance is provided in the event of:

1) establishment of a military serviceman's disability that occurred as a result of an illness related to his performance of military service duties, or establishment of a person's disability after his release from military service due to the reasons specified in this subsection;

2) a military serviceman contracted an illness during the performance of his military service duties, which led to a partial loss of working capacity without establishing his disability, as well as a person discharged from military service who partially lost working capacity as a result of the specified reasons, but no later than three months later after her release from military service;

The amounts of one-time cash assistance are established in Article 16-2 of this law. In particular, assistance in the event of disability is determined in the amount of:
- 400 times the subsistence minimum established by law for able-bodied persons as of January 1 of the calendar year, - in the event that a serviceman is diagnosed with a group I disability,

- 300 times the subsistence minimum established by law for able-bodied persons as of January 1 of the calendar year, - in the event that a serviceman is diagnosed with a disability of the II group,

- 250 times the subsistence minimum established by law for able-bodied persons as of January 1 of the calendar year, - in the event that a serviceman is diagnosed with a disability of the III group

In case of establishment of partial loss of working capacity, a one-time cash benefit is assigned and paid depending on the level of the military serviceman's loss of working capacity in the amount determined by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.

Establishing disability or determining the degree of loss of working capacity without establishing disability for military personnel, conscripts and reservists is carried out individually by state health care institutions in accordance with legislation.

One-time monetary assistance is assigned and paid by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, other central executive bodies that manage military formations and law enforcement agencies, as well as state authorities, military formations and law enforcement agencies, which provide for military service by military personnel, training (or inspection) and special fees - conscripts, service in the military reserve - reservists.

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine also approved the Procedure for the appointment and payment of one-time cash benefits in the event of death (death), disability or partial loss of working capacity without establishing the disability of military personnel, conscripts and reservists who are called up for training (or inspection) and special meetings or for service in military reserve.

According to this Procedure, the day of the right to receive a one-time cash benefit is:
1. In case of establishment of disability - the date specified in the certificate of the medical and social expert commission, and in case of re-examination and change of disability group - the date specified in the certificate of the medical and social expert commission on the initial establishment of disability;

2. In the case of establishing the degree of loss of working capacity without establishing disability - the date indicated in the certificate of the medical and social expert commission.

In case of partial loss of working capacity without establishing disability, a one-time cash benefit is paid depending on the degree of loss of working capacity, which is established by the medical and social expert commission.

Regarding the procedure for receiving such assistance:
A military serviceman, a conscript and a reservist who is paid a one-time cash benefit in the event of disability or loss of working capacity without being diagnosed with a disability, submits the following documents to the authorized body:

- an application for the payment of a one-time cash benefit in connection with the establishment of disability or partial loss of working capacity without establishment of disability;

- a certified copy of the reference to the act of examination by the medical and social expert commission on establishing the group of disability or the percentage of loss of working capacity with an indication of the causal relationship of the disability or loss of working capacity.

Copies are attached to the application:
- resolutions of the relevant military medical commission regarding the establishment of the causal relationship of an injury (contusion, trauma or mutilation), disease;

- a document testifying to the causes and circumstances of the injury (contusion, trauma or mutilation), in particular, that it is not related to the person committing a criminal or administrative offense or is not a consequence

committing acts while under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or toxic substances, or intentionally inflicting bodily harm on oneself;

- a document (relevant pages if available) certifying identity (passport of a citizen of Ukraine, temporary certificate of a citizen of Ukraine, permanent residence permit, temporary residence permit, refugee certificate, identity card requiring additional protection), with data on the surname, name name and patronymic (if available) of the person and about the registration of the place of residence (if available);

The head of the authorized body shall, within 15 days from the date of registration of all documents, submit to the administrator of budget funds a conclusion on the payment of one-time cash assistance, to which the documents are attached.

1. The military unit submits an application for funds to the Ministry of Defense.

2. The Ministry of Defense transfers funds to the military unit.

3. The military unit transfers funds to the serviceman.
