In Ukraine, starting from July 11, 2021, the Regulation on the form and content of ownership structure came into force. This confirms that legal entities are obliged to provide or update data on the company’s ultimate beneficial owners.

  • in addition to administrative liability, criminal liability may also apply. Submitting knowingly false information may result in fines ranging from 85,000 to 136,000 UAH, arrest for three to six months, or imprisonment for up to three years;

  • legal entities are obliged to ensure that information about ultimate owners and ownership structure remains up to date. If any changes occur, they must notify the registrar within 30 working days and submit supporting documents;

  • since 2022, companies must confirm information about ultimate beneficial owners within two weeks of registration;

  • the set of documents to be submitted to the state registrar will vary depending on the legal entity’s status (resident/non-resident).
