How the CCC manipulates citizens: Top 5 common schemes

In today's conditions, when the TCC (territorial recruitment centers) work for mobilization, there are numerous reports of manipulation by individual representatives of these institutions. Although the majority of TCC employees perform their duties conscientiously, there are those who use unlawful methods of pressure on citizens. In this article, we will consider the top 5 most common manipulations by the TCC and how to avoid their negative consequences.

1. Manipulation: “Update your data and you can go home”

Reality: You may be invited to the TCC to “update your data,” but after that, you are usually offered to undergo a military medical commission (MMC), which will likely end with the delivery of a summons and sending you to the unit.

2. Manipulation: “Pass the MMC and you can go home”

Reality: After passing the MMC, you can be mobilized. Many believe that after the MMC, you can safely return home, but in practice this leads to receiving a summons.

3. Manipulation: “If you don’t do what I say, you’ll go to jail.”
Reality: The fear of imprisonment is often used as a tool of pressure, but it is manipulation. The law does not provide for imprisonment only for refusing to comply with an illegal demand of a TCC employee.

4. Manipulation: “You have the right to a deferment, but go through the VLK”
Reality: After going through the VLK, you may lose your right to a deferment, because after that you become a military serviceman, and your right to a deferment will no longer be valid.

5. Manipulation: “You cannot refuse to go through the VLK”
Reality: You have the right to refuse to go through the VLK, but this decision should be made responsibly, understanding the possible consequences. If you refuse, TCC employees are obliged to draw up a corresponding act.

Is the Constitution on pause?
Sometimes employees of the CCC may claim that the Constitution of Ukraine has been “put on hold.” However, this is not true. Indeed, during martial law, some rights may be restricted, but even these restrictions are clearly regulated by law.
